Since you read from left to right the left hand is a b because it comes first in the alphabet and the right is the d because it is second. Same goes with p and q. I'm not a teacher but as a mom these things should not be left alone because they sometimes do not fix themselves. My son had the same problem and I made him check and correct. He over came it faster. Good luck

My daughter did that and I was told to just leave it be and she will outgrow it. Well it continued and was that much harder to correct in 3rd grade after she had done it for so long.
