My son's scores on the WISC IV:
He also scored 19 on two of the subtests, vocab and arithmetic.
He is now in 9th grade, repeating Algebra II. Last school year was very rough, he gave up in Alegbra II and failed in the final quater. This was after easily acing Algebra I in 6th grade and Geometry in 7th. The problems are now too hard for him to do in his head. Conceptually he still has no trouble, but he skips steps when he is forced to write down the work.
He also gets overwhelmed when a lot of problems are assigned.
He also had trouble in English class when he needed to memorize long lists of prefixes, suffixes and roots. He could ace the literature and essay writing though. Teachers believe he gives up and is lazy but I think that the 53 point gap between his verbal IQ index and his processing speed indicates an LD. Any thoughts?
