504 eligible but not qualified for a program?
Posted by Eric Schulz on 12/22/2014, 6:53 pm
Hello. My sophomore son has only recently been diagnosed with dyslexia. He received this diagnosis from a licensed child psychologist here in Oregon. Our high school has determined him to be "504 eligible", but because he has an "adequate" GPA and very high standardized test scores he does not "qualify" for a formalized 504 plan in our district. Has anyone heard of or encountered this with their own child. We were blown away in our 504 eligibility meeting that our son was found eligible for accommodations but that none would be given to him. Thank for any advice.
