Use Aspen Chips. I use it for my ratty and it seems to be working fine for him. If you are not able to use Aspen Chips, DO NOT use pine or cedar. They may smell good, but they have toxins in them that can give your rats repiratory infections and can lead to death! Use paper pellets instead if you can't use aspen chips. Altogether though, I would highly recommend useing aspen chips.
