my gerbil had a displaced hip once.... it was limping for a few days, stopped for a week, and started limping again... That could be a problem. It's defintly a smart idea to go to a good vet who has seen rats before... it COULD get better on it's own, but not likely. My gerbil most likely died because of the pain. I was to young to realize that I COULD take him to the vet. Though he was very old. I mean, in gerbil years, he was like 60. 4 year old in our terms.... *shuts up*
