My rat does it aswell and we took him to the vet twice the first time we went he said it was an infection nd the second time we went he said it was prodably a breathing problem like asthma or something like that. Rats are prone to these kinds of things as they don't have a very strong immune system but with some antibiotics and a course of tablets it is being kept under control so I wouldn't worry but get your rat checked over by the vet.
