Try buying rat food that is processed rather than mixed so that your rat doesn't just pick out the fatty sunflower seeds and stuff. Also, be sure to take your rat out of the cage as much as you can and and play with it.
FYI: Rats love tubes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
