I have just had your website recommended to me and i am overwhelmed by it! I have kept rats since Feb 1999,my first was Jerry. I had to leave to work abroad, but my mum gladly adopted him and he became her baby. In August 2000 my boyfriend and I got Ronnie and Reggie and have never looked back. They are very characteristic of thier namesakes!! Ronnie looked like "Martha the Mouse" and Reggie a black and white version! They lived happily together, spending nights in front of the TV with us!I think they liked Eastenders best! Two months ago, we adopted some homeless ratties -Spike and Gelly (jelly). They weren't looked after very well before, but they are slowly gaining confidence with us. They are about 9months old now, and little buggers!I shall send a picture of Spikey doing some gardening. Sadly, Ronnie died last Wednesday 5/12/01, and we miss him dearly. I never imagined the pain i would feel as we buried him in the garden. I would give anything to have him back, as he passed away in the "rattery" type place whilst we were visiting family. We buried him on the Friday and planted a small shrub and some pretty flowers, just like he was. Poor Reggie, he looks so lost, losing his room mate. We are lavishing him with attention, he seems to thoroughly enjoy it, but i think it's the night times that are the loneliest for him. We have even moved his cage into our bedroom to keep him company!!! After reading your sick ratties page, I must admit I feel rather awful, as we didn't know the symptons, and I guess we hoped Ron would pull through, as he was still very loving and eating well. I think we will always enjoy rats, so I foresee more upset in the future as we automatically get emotionally attached to the sweet little creatures. Anyway, after typing this rather large story, i shall say goodbye for now. I shall definately be logging onto this website again, many thanks.
