When I hit my best curl, I ended my program with 90 percent of my max for 3 sets of 3. This was 2 weeks out from the meet with one last light workout before. For 6 weeks I was doing 5 sets of 5, then the next 6 weeks 3 sets of 3 (after warmups). Every rep was treated like a meet lift, no swinging and completely strict. In fact, first few weeks, my back was against wall so I wouldn't feel the need to lean back and break my knees.
