A young guy's advice on weight if you like it: You gotta do it perfectly. I halve my carbs, UP my total calories in the week, and drink 2 gallons of water a day until Thursday night for a Friday evening weigh-in. I always come in lighter than needed, but don't screw with the process since it works, and helps my coefficient. Went from 151 to 141 for OH state, and went 8/9 with a missed DL due to bad set-up. I always go 8/9 or 9/9 at meets, and never plan attempts thinking the weight cut will affect my strength. But you need to have a "regain my weight at all costs mentality" if you're cutting like 10+ lbs. Gallon of Gatorade, whole bags of chips, ramen noodles etc. 5000 calories, and a rough sleep. Zantac for stomach pain, Imodium if you tend to get bowel distress. No gross stuff like IV's or weird stuff though.
Basically, if you don't despise food and drink by the time you go to bed the night before the meet, you didn't eat enough. By the time we got to dinner last meet, I was picking slowly at my food from being so stuffed already.
