That is smart. Many lifters try to do their absolute best in 5-5 meets a year. It doesn't happen. I would say 2 meets a year as banner meets, the rest to just stay sharp and focused. Don't do like some and lift only once a year unless you're a 15-20 vet, you will blow that one meet 85% of the time and your whole year is wasted. Lifters need to be sharp on the platform to do their best. Sharp doesn't mean you do your very best ever, it means the best you can be that day, 9 for 9. I suggest use the other meets outside of your banner meets as heavy workout meets this way your not breaking you training routine.
