Bankes Arms Hotel

My family visit Swanage a fair amount over the year, often ending the day with a meal at the Bankes Arms Hotel. A couple of weeks ago I was presented with a bill of £16.75 for a kids scampi and chips, lemonade, crisps and 2 glasses of wine. On querying this, and asking how much the wine was, I was told I had been charged £3.75 per glass of wine. I asked where the charges were displayed for wine. The surly bartender pointed at a 1cm x 2cm sticker with the price hand written in pencil stuck on the till. 'You're joking', I said. 'Where's the drinks price list?' The surly bartender then pointed to a small sheet of paper stuck on the wall the other side of the room. In my view the Bankes Arms has deteriorated from a nice, good value family friendly pub/restaurant to a miserable, poor value establishment where they appear to be doing their level best to rip off the public.
