Posted by Daisy on August 13, 2007, 3:57 pm Graham makes a fair point, except that if I had warned that the place was full of teenagers, behaving as teenagers do, I suspect he would not have complained. I have in the past reviewed restaurants in (inevitably) Crouch End, colonised by young mothers with huge (ahem) buggies, where it is impossible to walk between the tables, and if I've not written about pubs with an overwhelmingly male clientele, that's probably because I've either passed out from testosterone fumes or left long before there was anything to review. And when reviewing a restaurant in a popular tourist destination, I might mention that locals appear to eat there. Or that the place was full of tourists. The fact is, anywhere which is overwhelmingly patronised by one age group or type can affect the enjoyment of anyone not in that demographic and a review which omits this information is less than honest. No prejudice intended, and if I hated wrinklies, I'd not have taken my dear old uncle to Trawlers. Apart from yappy yuppy mummies in the End that is Crouch, whose indoor parking in restaurants constitutes a fire hazard, I have nothing against any of the above groups. Would be interested (I think!) in others' views. Should one mention the other punters or not ?
In my review of Trawlers, I said it was overwhelmingly patronised by wrinklies. And we've had a complaint about it, from Graham McKean:

As I may be one I would observe that if Daisy Midddleton had mentioned that the restaurant in question, in a recent review, had been full of Jews or Blacks you might have hesitated to publish it.
