Presumably it's fine to complain about the noisy, the unwashed, the rude, smokers and so forth because it is their behaviour that is antisocial. It is not all right to complain about Catholics, Muslims, Gays, The Welsh, the blind, the old, the young, the bald, the long-haired, diabetics or posh people, since being what they are has nothing to do with their behaviour in restaurants (unless it's eating fish on Fridays or avoiding sticky toffee puddings). These diners are objectionable only to the prejudiced, that is to say those oddballs who already hate people without having met them or knowing anything about them.
