My theory about this one is that it depends if you are eating in or out. I don't want anything wet, friable or too hot to hold if I'm walking along eating out of a snarly newspaper. Sausages and saveloys and pies are therefore better than fish which is too hot, too fatty, to breakable and makes your fingers smell. For similar reasons gravy is impossible. Delicious though it may be, it will dissolve your newspaper and end up all over you.
Don't tell me about polystyrene...
