It was a laugh of recognition more than a laugh at your misfortune, Daisy. Why is this country still so useless at handling complaints? And why are so many managers trained in the Dixons school of customer relations? They always ask you if everything's all right but when you say no they don't know what to do. I once complained about a length of green twine in my food and they wanted to have a big argument with me. Had it been the States I'd have got a proper response. Problems at the bottom? Look to the top.
