Thought you'd like to see the letter I mailed to the Spirit Group today. I sent an old fashioned letter - I think they get more attention than emails these days.
Dear Sirs,
It is now two weeks since I ate at your pub/restaurant “The Battle Axes” and I enclose a review I wrote the following day. Despite Mandy (the Manager) taking my name, address and telephone number, I have heard nothing from your company, not even a phone call to enquire how I am.
I had a headache all over the Easter weekend, which while not severe enough to seek medical attention, was unpleasant and required painkillers. The headaches have subsided, but I still have a scar on my head.
Linda Middleton, who made the original booking, telephoned Mandy last week to make several other complaints on behalf of family members. These included:
- mains being brought while starters still being eaten
- confused and haphazard service
- incredibly high prices
- all the chips were stone cold (I had thought it was just mine)
- Salmon en Croute being all croute and very little salmon
- a heavy iron chandelier falling on one of the diners’ heads
Mandy responded by asking Linda to put her complaints in writing. Linda has gone to New Zealand for several weeks, so she has asked me to do so instead.
Maybe chandeliers fall so often upon diners’ heads in Spirit Group establishments that you no longer consider it a complaint worth responding to. Maybe you get so many complaints about poor service, cold food, over pricing and unhygienic festoons of old grass, that you simply lean back in your chair, yawn, make a paper dart out of the letter and aim it at the waste bin.
May I hope that you will stay your hand on this occasion, un-crumple this letter and respond to it ?
Yours sincerely
