I have seen a number of people writing that they have difficulty with removing the cost of items that were not delivered or were sent back uneaten. Here is the rule, and a legal one at that: you are perfectly entitled to removed an item from a bill that is in dispute. You are perfectly entitled to remove the service charge. You are perfectly entitled to refuse to pay the whole bill PROVIDED YOU INFORM THE RESTUARANT AND GIVE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS REGARDING THE DISPUTE. IT IS NOT A CRIMINAL MATTER BUT A CIVIL ONE
