It's with much sorrow I'm writing this today, was going to wait until later, but here goes.
We found out yesterday that Harley has bone cancer and can not survive it. She suggested putting him down then, but we just could not do that on such short notice, so we brought him back home with some meds for any pain.
This started about a month ago with him having some weight loss (something that has never happened before). Then yesterday morning I noticed a slight limp from his right front leg. So to the vet we went to have the leg x-rayed. I looked at it with the vet to see one bone almost totally gone from sight of the x-ray.
Harley was the love of our life and will be missed sorely, by Sue, our grandkids and myself.
We will have the vet coming to our house either Monday, or Tuesday to end Harley's pain once and for all. Right now he doing as well as could be expected and still eating good, eating is still something he enjoys and will never give up doing I guess.
This happened so fast we couldn't believe it was actually happening. Harley is now a tad over 8 years and is leaving us far earlier then we ever expected. They just leave us way to soon and without much notice many times, so I suggest you spend as much time with your mastiffs as you can.
We're not looking forward to the weekend ending, but know in our hearts it's the best thing for Harley now.
Take Care all, give your mastiffs a hug from us.
Rodney, Sue and Harley
