Cindi, I know some of what you are going through. My first Mastiff developed Grand Mal siezures at 1.5yro. His so-called breeder blamed me for this development, go figure.
Pheno was all we ever did, so that much is all I know. We never made it to the use of a bromide and was even using sugar water for a time.
I would search around to find a Vet who might specialize in neurological defects and go from there. As for the blood from open ulcers, I've never had to deal with that thankfully, but was told to watch my dog's Liver as the pheno would effect it and eventually destory it.
