Help with Ear swelling???

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the ear flap swelling, and any possible reasons other than a hematoma? I will be taking Fred to the vets tomorrow, but in the mean time.

When I got home today, Freds ear flap was swollen(pretty large). It doesnt feel squishy to the touch. He is tilting his head now. I have NOT noticed any scrathing, head shaking, yadda yadda. When I first got him, you could tell that ear bothered him, and it has serious scars on it.... and that ear has always been "sensitive to him. He has never liked me messing with it, but has always allowed me too. Any thoughts?
