usuaully sweeling is from a hematoma that is a symptom of something else going on, and the hematoma is fromed by the nails scratching the ear, tearing the blood vessels, creating the hematoma. Keeping it draining, antibiotics should help. I also use the blue power ear solution which works wonders on the ears here. Best wishes for a full recovery Fred!!!
