Posted by Laura on July 13, 2004, 8:18 am Much is being made this year of the 50th anniversary of rock and roll (Elvis recorded the song "That's All Right, Mama" in 1954, which unofficially launched the era). Many singers who grew up during the 40's and 50's probably were first exposed to music through their families, parents and so forth, who were playing records by Sinatra and and other similar artists. (As an example, Paul McCartney's father was a musician and I think he was exposed to the big-band sounds way before rock and roll came about.) I was wondering, in your case, when did you first become aware of rock and roll? Which singer(s) or group(s) did it for you? How old were you when you started liking rock and roll music and singing along with it? Thanks,
