My grandmother, Jane Hall, nee Royden, came from Kirkdale. Her parents were James and Sarah Jane Royden and lived in Hogarth Road. (No longer there but there is a Hogarth Walk nearby.) James worked as a Shipsmith and I believe Sarah Jane was an impressive seamstress.
