Lost, in the middle of a changing season,
writing, by the orange of, Jack-o-lantern light.
The candles dances from behind it's dark mask,
a face now withered, sublime in it's fright.
A crispness and a dying
October's noble theme.
A wary eye espying
the coming Winter's gleam.
Touch of frost, all is lost
Fall's fateful falling esteem.
The hands of time, know no rhyme
as silent as a pumpkin's scream.
One last ghastly gasp, of a month now expired.
HALLOWEEN, the cold coins on October's dead eyes.
The torchlit horizon, burns a cold fire.
The living dead ascend, to live out their demise.
All along the land this night
the dead rise and take their leave
Maggots fall from gaping maws
snakes writhe in every sleeve
Ghosts and goblins, witches too
on this night of make believe
Cast aside their ancient bonds
Free, on this All Hallows Eve.
