Hi Webmistress Selket. I joined Selket in hopes of learning more about belly dancing and meeting new friends. I am starting up belly dancing classes next month. I was taking classes 4 years ago but my work
schedule changed. I was able to but some costumes from my instructor. Even though they were for a woman, I still used them during some classes. My question is, is it all right to wear a woman's belly dancing costume in class and performances? Is this a dishonor to the sacred world of belly dancing? I would like to know and I don't want to offend anybody. I plan on learning belly dancing and I am planning to use women's costumes in my performance. I would like to know if that is acceptable.
