The trick to this move is keeping that separation - that open space - between your ribcage and hips. 2) Shift your body weight slightly to the left, so that you *could* lift your right foot if you wanted to (but you won't). 3) Bend your right knee more to drop your left hip. You are *dropping* right hip, to create the *illusion* that you are lifting the left hip. Your feet should remain flat on the ground at all times. This move is concentrated in your hips and legs, and it is your legs that are driving the movement. 4) Repeat with the left knee/hip. Try this a couple of times. Pretend that a piece of glass is in front of your hip-bones, so your hips don't twist or torque sideways. This is a LATERAL motion only - up and down. 5) Note that your chest/upper body shifts slightly left-right with the weight change - this is a natural effect, but don't TRY to make it happen or it will be too big. 6) When you have the mechanics down, smooth it out: Try to "pour" the motion from one side to the other - use your obliques (abdominal muscles on the sides of your waist) to pull up so the change from left to right looks smooth. It should look like you are drawing a "figure 8 lying on it's side" (the symbol for infinity) on the mirror in front of you. Practice practice practice. Have fun and good luck! Selket

These are instructions on how to do a lateral (side to side) hip sway, which is what I think you're looking for. I am not going to discuss arms here because there are many arm movements that go with hip sways. ![]()
