As your TR7RV is an '82 model it should have a Negative Ground/Earth electrical system, so you will need a Negative Ground LED bulb, but I expect you knew that already?
Similar experience? Yes. When I bought my Norton Commando a few years ago, it would regularly blow tail filaments, and I had an idea that the filaments were failing because the bulb was vibrating in its holder.
I put a small elastic band over the bulb (looped over the bulb a couple of times so that it fitted tightly) so that the elastic band acted as a cushion between the bulb and the the bulb holder.
And I've not had the tail bulb blow since then!
