Hi Les, you must be feeling very glum - that's bad news, sorry to hear it.
You said "both cams" show excessive wear - do you mean both camshafts show wear or both cams on the one shaft?
If it's just one shaft it may be a case for identifying the oil feed ways for that particular camshaft, if both may I suggest that you speak with your parts supplier and find out if the camshafts are genuine OEM or some Chinese knock-off made of recycled communist cheese, like their screws....
