you said that you'd swapped over the HT leads and coils Mick so, yes, it sounds like the problem is on the LT side. You mention pick-ups getting oil on the m so I can assume that you have electronic ignition of some kind. Perhaps a thorough de-grease will solve the problem, but oil and electronic components seldom mix well and I don't know if pick ups could be permanently damaged by it... Les, can you help here?
