If it is an 'E' model with the underslung caliper ('78/'79), then the caliper has to be swung down first (by pulling the wheel spindle out far enough for the the caliper and plate to be swung down so it hangs by the torque stay, which places the bleed nipple at the top of the caliper?
OR
If it is the later overhead 'E' caliper, ('80-on) then the caliper and plate has to be swung forward (by disconnecting the torque stay and moving the R/H shock out of the way) to place the bleed nipple at the uppermost part of the caliper.
If you don't set the caliper to the vertical position before bleeding (using either of the two methods described) then you won't get all the air out.
Use a piece of wood of approximately the same thickness as the disc between the pads to stop the pistons being pushed out too far.
