Triumph 650 twins from 1970-on and all 750 twins breathe through the open drive side main bearing into the primary chaincase, the breather outlet is at the rear of the primary case, behind the clutch, so the primary chaincase oil for '70-on models must be the same as what you use for the engine.
If the primary chaincase has been drained, then it is only necessary to "prime" it with 150cc (1/4 Imp. pint) of 20W/50 multigrade engine oil. The level in the chaincase will then be maintained by the action of the breather, and no additional oil needs be added to the primary case. Any excess oil in the primary will drain back to the engine sump via three small level holes drilled just below the drive side bearing.
