if you're getting a fat spark then either the timing is out, or you are running very rich.
The main jets have no real effect unless you are twisting the throttle seriously at start up.
So, if you are sure that the pilet jaet isn't at fault, if the problem is in the carb, then we're down to float or float needle, I'd make absolutely certain that they're seated properly. Put the old ones back and see if the problem disappears.
