T140V oil draining into sumo?

Hi i have got a 1973 T140v. When i check the oil level in my bike it does not show on my dip stick. If i top it up it blows out of the breather pipe under the tank. if i drain the oil to the correct level its fine, but when i come to it the next day the oil level is down again! Whats the storey? As you may have worked out i am new to old triumphs though very keen to learn about my new (ish) bike.
