T140D Carb Problems. Amal Mk2

Hi Compression is excellent , new carb rubbers fitted, is it worth using red hermetite to make sure they seal , just a smear? Fuel is getting to the float bowls. The bike had only covered 8k miles so i doubt theat the slides are worn, the carbs are clean inside all drilling cleaned with compressed air. This machine has not run for approx 15 years,but I have competely stripped down and rebuilt it. Simon
