Silicone fluid? Caliper strip

Has anybody used silicone fluid? I'm tempted as it will be better over time and won't bugger the paintwrk or absorb moisture. It's twice the price though, and needs all the system flushing out. But I'm doing that anyway,. But my pistons are stuck and someone has suggested splitting the calipers - but I thought that that was a No No!! I have seen piston seal kits but nothing to aid the caliper halves.
