My shocks look upside down compared to the ones that I took off. I'd assume that mine are the originals (manual warns about them being the correct way up) as I bought the 79 bike in 84 or 85.
This year I replaced them with Hagon custom shocks all stainless and they fit "upside down" compared to the originals. Otherwise, the stickers would be wrong. The Hagons can be fitted either wayhttp://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/images/bigcustchro.jpg
