Hi Kev, as far as my understanding goes, the washer isn't made of steel with a brass coating on one face but rather it's made of bronze with a hard chrome-steel coating on one face. I therefore understand that the steel side is the side the rollers bear against and the bronze side, heavily greased, faces inwards. Happy to be corrected though if I've got it arse-about-face..
