Hi all, bike is a T140ES 1982 model with mk2 Amals and Lucas Rita ignition. I recently fitted 3.5 cutaway slides which has cured the richness problem I have always had with the Mk2s coming off idle. However I got some really bad pinking when opening the throttle under load in return. Raising the needles to max to richen the midrange has solved that up to about 5000 rpm where the pinking starts again (now minor but still there). I spent some time shooting up and down the motorway to find the ideal timing setting and then did a strobe check to see what my ideal setting was in relation to the 38 degrees mark. When strobing I can actually see three lines, two are faint on the right and left and a strong centre line, which is the same on both cylinders and about 2 degrees retarded (sort of what I would expect).
Does anyone know why I can see three lines rather just one? Does it perhaps indicate that the timing is fluttering for some reason thus explaining my pinking problem?
