Hi Rudi, thanks for the input, hadn't considered that one and is definitely worth checking. I've been thinking along the lines of worn cam bushes allowing the reluctor to float as it passes the pick-ups. Didn't notice any play though when I had a look, but I wasn't specifically looking for it...I'm thinking/hoping that this is just an idiosyncracy of the strobe - it's got a very convex lens to focus the beam, so the distance you hold the gun from the pointer is probably critical. I'll try it on another of my bikes that has no issues. No idea what good quality strobes cost but I'd have thought the 40 quid I paid would get you a good one (albeit obviously Chinese!)? Anyway just fitted 210 mains and hoping that will solve the problem as it seems to be mixture related as well. Fingers crossed.
