sometimes as low as 10000 miles,good air filtration is important,new slides in worn bores is pointless.if fitting new ones check float heights dont assume there right just cos there new,also check right jets r fitted,primitive carbs but i`ve grown to like them easy to work on when you know how,use a no 78 drill to clean pilot airways if u ever need to.even new carbs can come with sloppy slides so check this as well.i`ve just done a single carb conversion on my t140 bonny and it feels better for it,if anything a bit more grunty at instant throttle openings.good carbs are vital surprising how many people don`t bother with this side of things.you could consider chrome brass slides alegedley a worthwhile thing to do.good luck..
