Not wishing to spread alarm and despondency but I once got 1000m from a new slide in a new body before the familiar spitback/stall off idle reoccured [TR6].
Running a Unifilter oiled foam aircleaner element.
I would go straight to the chromed brass slides if others recommend them as Mazak on Mazak [the easily castable alloy both slide and body are made of] is a recipe for rapid wear of both.
Chrome on Mazak should cut wear to almost zero, I have been using a Mikuni slide in a + .020" bored Amal body for approx 20K miles now with no problems.
Slide to body clearance was originally set at .015" which can be a worry if the carb flange nuts are overtightened but I avoid that, mileage is between 60-68 MPG depending on use.
