The pilot bush is a long way outboard, not sure you will have enough depth to tap a thread ? Cleaning pilot bush through the mixture screw side with a #78 drill bit epoxied into an aerosol spray tube has always worked for me. High grade fuel and regular use seems to help avoid blockages.
