Thank you for your kind help L.A.B., that's great.
I'll scoot off now to the relevant web page and give it a go. I need to pay close attention to what's happened to the wiring as I think, from what you've said the current owner may have changed his headlight from std. and put a different ignition/lighting switch elsewhere as well. I hope the wiring closely resembles original layout!
