There are three potential areas of leakage, sleeve gear seal, mainshaft seal, or the oil could be getting past the O-ring that seals the splines behind the sprocket?

You will probably need the clutch hub extractor? Normally the engine sprocket, primary chain and clutch assembly are removed together (check your workshop manual) so you may also need to extract the engine sprocket?
However if there is sufficient slack in the chain, then it is often possible to remove the clutch rollers and wiggle the clutch drum out without disturbing the engine sprocket?
