<1. How do you remove the flipping side panels? I have taken the spring off but they still seem fastened at the other end and won't budge. Is there something I am missing?>
To remove the cover panel once the springs are released, pull the front end of the panel outwards until the retaining lip on the rear edge of the panel disengages from the frame tube. The lip can sometimes get pinched between the frame tube and the inner panel especially if the panels are the thicker pattern fibreglass items and the moulded plastic ones are not very strong either, so take care when removing or refitting them.
<2. Occasionally the kick start locks up solid. Is this normal? Even in neutral?>
That can be due to kickstart quadrant engagement tooth wear, and it can be a fairly common Triumph problem, the more the quadrant wears, the more the lock-ups occur. A new K/S quadrant will probably cure it.
