Now I've got the clutch to free up I've had another go at kicking it, this time with the clutch pulled in.
Every now and then the kickstart locks. This happens with the lever at the top of the movement.
If I kick it hard it frees up. I couldn't do this when the clutch was engaged, it felt too solid.
It must be something to do with how the quadrant and ratchet mesh as it occurs when the kickstart spline is pushed in toward the case.
I think I can put up with it now but I reckon sooner or later something will wear or break inside.
