Each individual Rifle Company or Heavy Weapons Company had a Headquarters Company which handled logistical tasks such as supply-information & signal etc. In turn each Battalion & Regiment had a Headquarters Company which served the same function but in relation to the larger group of which it was the functioning leader. I presume that the Division had one also but we seldom had need to go that high in operations. Some one in Headquarters could give you a better picture of their function than I as I was at platoon level in so far as headquarters function was concerned.
