I am doing research on my dad, Lawrence C. Hunt, and his military service in WWII. All I know at this point is that he served in the 324th Infantry Regiment, 44th Infantry Div. from April 3rd to July 20, 1945 and he was a litter bearer. His military records and medals were destroyed in a house fire years ago and I am in the process of reconstructing this information and getting replacement medals. I don't know his Company or any personal information of his time in the European Theater. I have received a "general overview of the activities of the 324th Infantry Regiment and 44th Infantry Div. during WWII" and I can obtain a "history of the regiment and order photocopies of it for $81.00" from the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, Dept. of the Army in Carlisle, PA. Could someone help me out. I just discovered this site and am very interested in doing more research. Thank you.
