Just recently my mom gave me something that my grandpa carried around with him while he fought overseas during WWII. My Grandpa died almost 12 years ago so I was never able to talk with him about this. His name was Oliver Wesley Binns, but I always knew him as Wes. Accoring to a piece of paper that I found, he was part of Hq. Co. 3rd Bn.-324th Inf., 44th Inf. Division. He sailed home on July 15, 1945 from Gourock, Scotland on the H.M.T. "Queen Elizabeth". I have found some old pictures among his things but the names on the back of been rubbed off in time. I am hoping someone knew Grandpa during his time overseas and could tell me more about this time in his life and also where he served at during WWII. Maybe he is in an old picture or something. He is orginally from Cincinnati, Iowa if that helps. If you have any information on him, I would love to hear from you!!
